Some physicians are unaware that there are serious complications that can result from RAI.  While they routinely caution patients that parathyroid damage can result from surgery, they do not realize that it is more likely that parathyroid damage can result from RAI.  When patients present with complaints of severe muscle cramping, this should be considered.
